Oman’s Labor Ministry is planning to launch an interactive internet portal for local jobs seekers in July, reported the official Omani news agency (ONA).
The portal was designed by Hewlett Packard along with a local partner, Imtac, the technology division of US Renaissance Holdings.
The portal will help Omani youths seek employment either in Oman or in neighboring Arab states, the agency said.
According to official figures, 55,701 Omanis were unemployed at the end of March this year. However, many job seekers do not register with the Public Authority for Social Insurance and the actual number of unemployed is likely to be higher, ONA said.
The government’s sixth five-year plan focuses on the provision of suitable employment opportunities for Omanis. The plan is expected to provide about 110,000 new job opportunities over the next five years, ONA added – Albawaba.com
