Jordanian-Yemeni joint committee meetings entered their second day on Sunday, under the leadership of Yemen’s Prime Minister Abdel Qader Bajamal and his Jordanian counterpart, Ali Abu Ragheb.

At the opening of the Saturday meeting in Amman, Jordan and Yemen said they were gravely concerned about the situation in the region, especially the suffering of the Palestinian people, who live under an Israeli economic and military siege, said press reports.

Abu Ragheb emphasized the importance of seeking peace and justice in the region, which he said required total withdrawal by the Israelis from the Arab land occupied in 1967, including Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, the Golan Hieghts, and the remaining parts of southern Lebanon, in reference to the disputed Shabaa Farms.

The Jordanian prime minister also referred to the Iraqi situation, pointing out that his country supported the lifting of sanctions on Iraq.

For his part, Bajamal stressed the importance of joint efforts put by ministries and associations of the two countries to create strong bilateral relations.

Bajamal said his country was in need of Jordanian experts in various fields, especially education, science, research and the development of financial foundations.

The two parties are scheduled to sign four protocols on bilateral relations, including youth, sports, information, technical education and professional training.

Yemen's prime minister and his accompanying delegation is scheduled to visit the Aqaba Special Enterprise Zone to be briefed on Jordan’s new project – Albawaba.com
