The joint Saudi-Iranian commission for economic and cultural cooperation will start its third session in Riyadh on Tuesday, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The commission will discuss a number of topics, including means for enhancing economic, commercial, investment and technical cooperation, said the agency.

Officials from both countries will also discuss ways of boosting trade exchange, available investment opportunities for setting up joint projects, and the exchange of expertise in the various scientific fields and conducting joint researches in the spheres of agricultural, livestock and water management.

According to SPA, the commission will also follow up the developments pertaining to agreements in the field of marine navigation cooperation, encouragement of investments, customs cooperation and land transportation.

Ties between the two countries have warmed considerably since the May 1997 election of President Mohammed Khatami, after a long period of hostility following the 1979 Islamic revolution -- Albawaba.com
