Jordan’s King Abdullah arrived Saturday in Muscat where he held talks with Sultan Qaboos on the Middle East peace, reported the official Petra news agency.

The two leaders reviewed the current situation in the Arab region especially in the Palestinian territories, said the agency, adding that both leaders stressed the necessity to exert every possible effort to resume the Mideast peace process.

They affirmed that a comprehensive, just and lasting peace would never be realized until the Palestinian people regain their legitimate rights including the right to establish their independent state on their national soil.

The visit, incidentally, comes only a day after Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's statement that a future Palestinian state must be strictly limited in sovereignty and area, covering less than half the West Bank occupied by Israel in 1967, according to the Gulf News – Albawaba.com
