Jordan’s ministry of social development officials have announced on Wednesday that abused women will have access to a long-promised safe haven within the next three months.
Director of the social defense department Moussa Safi was quoted by Jordan Times as saying that “the government is committed to establish the center as a temporary solution to help abused women, and we are in our final stages.”
Safi told the paper that premises have already been rented. They will provide safety, housing, rehabilitation and legal, social and psychological help for abused women.
He declined to give the location of the house, which will house between 20-30 women, citing the need to maintain confidentiality, privacy and security of the women to be hosted there – Albawaba.com
