Seventy-three people have been charged with “terrorist offences” after clashes between two tribal groups during Jordan's general election last month, Petra news agency reported Monday.

Fighting between the rival groups erupted in the town of Naur, some 20 kilometers southwest of the capital Amman on June 19, two days after the election.

According to the agency, the state prosecutor, Commander Fawaz al-Attum charged the 73 with taking part in “terrorist offences”.

Of the 73, "17 have been arrested and 12 of them released on bail", Petra said, while the 56 others are still at large and being sought by the authorities. (Albawaba.com)
