Jordan expects a three percent growth in the gross domestic product (GDP) for the year 2001, a report by the central bank said Monday.

The expected rise was due to an improvement in the sectors of transport and telecommunications sectors, said the official Jordanian news agency, Petra.

The report also said that inflation rate is expected to amount to 3 percent and domestic cash liquidity to grow by 8.3 percent as a result of the anticipated increase in credit offered to the private sector which will contribute up to 90 percent of this growth.

The 2001 general budget is also expected to improve compared to the previous year, it said – Albawaba.com
