Despite the sluggish pace of economic growth, a number of indicators, mainly in the last year, show that Jordan's economy has made progress, according to the secretary general of Jordans Finance Ministry, said Jordan Times on Tuesday.

The daily quoted Abu Hmmour who was speaking at a seminar on “The Economic Adjustment Program and its impact on Jordan’s Economy,” as saying that the local economy was on the right track since he’s expecting that the economy will “achieve a growth rate exceeding 3 per cent by the end of this year

“Despite the decline in the agricultural sector and the barriers to regional trade, the national economy saw growth of 1.6 per cent at current prices during the 1999 period,” Jordan Times reported Abu Hammour as saying in his presentation, which covers the period 1999-2002 – Albawaba.com
