Four Jordanian prisoners were released Wednesday - 13 months after they were transferred from Israel to Jordan. The four prisoners Sultan al-Ajlouni, Salem and Khaled Abu Ghalyoun along with Amin Al Sane’e were sent back home to serve time in a Jordanian prison after an agreement was reached with Israel in this regard.

They were jailed in Israel 18 years ago for killing two soldiers and wounding others in two shooting attacks.

According to Petra news agency, Jordan's Public Security Department (PSD) Spokesperson Major Mohammad Khatib said the decision to release the four men was in accordance with Article 34 of the Correctional and Rehabilitation Centers Law. Khatib said the Justice Ministry had notified the concerned Israeli authorities on July 2, 2007 that the four Jordanians who were transferred by Israel to Jordan will serve their imprisonment in accordance with the Jordanian laws.
