Jordan on Wednesday said there is no military solution in southern Syria after news reports stated that talks between the opposition and Russia have failed.

"All sides needs to go back to the negotiating table. There is no military solution and it will mean more deaths, more killing and more victims," Minister of State for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson Jumana Ghunaimat said on Wednesday. "All sides should end the fighting."

The Syrian government’s forces have been launching an offensive against the rebel-held parts of the war-torn country’s southern Daraa province.

The minister called on all UN agencies to shoulder their responsibilities towards the displaced Syrians in the south of Syria to reduce their suffering.

On the opening of safe corridors for the delivery of aid, she said three were opened today, but the delivery of aid is not easy.

A total of 25 trucks laden with foodstuffs and humanitarian assistance delivered aid to the displaced Syrians in the south of Syria on Wednesday, increasing the overall number of trucks sent since early this week to date to 128 trucks, she said, citing figures by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation.

“The delivery of aid was not easy today, due to the ongoing developments in the south,” she said.
