Jordan opposition hopes for improved ties with Hamas

Jordan's Islamic opposition has voiced hope that the kingdo's decision to allow Hamas' exiled leader to return for his father's funeral could improve strained relations between the two sides. The government has said Khaled Mashaal, who was expelled in 1999, was given a visa for Saturday's funeral solely on humanitarian grounds. Abdelrahim Mashaal, 91, died in Amman on Friday.

 

But Ali Abu Sukkar, a member of Jordan's Islamic Action Front, voiced hope the "positive step" could have broader political aspectss, the AP reported
