ALBAWABA - The Jordanian Ministry of Health has recorded 27 cases of measles, including seven cases in the capital city of Amman, 19 in Irbid, and one case in Ajloun, according to Ayman Maqableh, the Director of the Epidemiology Department at the Ministry of Health.

Local media outlets reported Maqableh as saying that a healthcare team has been formed to trace contacts following the first recorded case since last April.

He mentioned that more than 500 contacts of measles patients have been traced.

He said that the team has been prepared to deal with these cases and ensure the vaccination of the designated staff.

An infected person can transmit the disease to about 17 others, according to Maqableh, who highlighted the need for caution and vigilance through vaccination programs.

The director outlined the ministry's plan to address measles cases, which includes vaccination as a measure to reduce the spread of the disease, along with a national vaccination campaign.

Regarding the management of infected individuals, he said, "Once the disease is identified through the appearance of a skin rash, the infected person is isolated if admission is necessary and then he will be provided with specific treatment."
