Jordanian Minister of Tourism Taleb Rifai on Tuesday handed over to the Syrian ambassador to Jordan a stone head confiscated at the Jordanian-Syrian border, reported the official Petra news agency.
The stone head, part of a bearded stone man of the 2nd century AD, has historical and archeological value, Director of Archeology Department Fawaz Khreisha told the agency, adding that the sculpture fragment might represent a Palmyra king that with the states badge on his head.
Khreisha said that his department had also previously returned smuggled antiquities to Egypt and Iraq – Albawaba.com
