A Jordanian court on Sunday sentenced an Iraqi man to 15 years in prison for participating in a plot to carry out bombing attacks in Jordan, the Associated Press reported.

Khaled Rabiee is said to have hidden 100 pounds of explosives in a forest in northren Jordan, but was arrested before he was able to carry out an attack.

The Jordan Times quoted court documents as saying Rabiee was sentenced to 15 years for transporting an illicit substance and intending to "carry out a terrorist attack."

Rabiee was acquitted of the charges of belonging to a hostile organization. Previous reports said Rabiee had connections to an Iranian brigade called Bayt al-Maqdis.
