A group of 14 Jordanian deputies is to call on parliament to "reexamine" the peace treaty with Israel signed in 1994 with a view to canceling it, one of them, Hamadeh Faraaneh, told AFP Friday.
"This action is explained by the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and by our concern to oppose the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Jerusalem," which was under Jordanian administration up to the war of June 1967, and to "bring an end to Jordanian-Israeli relations", he said.
Faraaneh said the 14 are from various political persuasions and have signed a memorandum which they will present to parliament Sunday -- AMMAN (AFP)
