Jordan’s Foreign Minister Marwan Moasher on Tuesday blasted Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon for rejecting the international "roadmap" for Middle East peace as a non-starter.
"These statements do not indicate any seriousness on the part of the Israeli government, and Jordan found them bizarre," Moasher was quoted as saying by Petra news agency.
Sharon recently told Newsweek that a "roadmap" initiative by the diplomatic "quartet" seeking Mid-East peace was destined to fail. "Oh, the quartet is nothing! Don't take it seriously!" he said.
"We don't know if such remarks were meant for internal consumption ahead of the (Israeli) election or not," Moasher said.
"But what we do know is that there is international agreement ... on the need to end Israeli occupation within three years, in line with the terms of the roadmap, and the creation of a Palestinian state," he added. (Albawaba.com)
