Speaking before hundreds of people at a Friday rally, the chief of Jordan's Muslim Brotherhood called for the kingdom to scrap its peace treaty with Israel over ongoing provocations at al-Aqsa compound in Jerusalem, AFP reported.
Hammam Saeed described the 1994 treaty as "shameful" and said Jordan's recent recall of its ambassador to Israel was an insufficient gesture, the report said. The treaty established Jordan as the custodian of the holy site.
The crowd at the Amman rally called for the erasure of Israel and said they were "coming to Jerusalem, martyrs by the millions," AFP said.
