Healthcare experts from the Middle East region will convene to form the judging panel for the 2nd annual Hospital Build Awards, which recognises excellence in the design, operation and management of healthcare facilities in the Middle East region.
To enter the Awards, professionals involved in developing healthcare facilities in the Middle East should nominate projects or organisations that deserve recognition in line with the various awards categories. Nominations can be submitted via the website (www.hospitalbuild-me.com) from 16 March 2010 and will close on 22 April 2010.
The Hospital Build Awards winners will be announced on the 1 June 2010 at the Hospital Build Middle East Exhibition & Congress, an event organised by IIR Middle East Life Sciences Division, which will run from 1 – 3 June 2010, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
As the winner of last year's Best Interior Design Award (Built) for The City Hospital in Dubai, EHL Management Services share their experience one year on.
“We decided to enter the Hospital Build Awards because we feel that The City Hospital is a land mark for Dubai’s luxury healthcare market and we are proud to showcase it,” said Riaan van der Merwe, project manager, EHL Management Services. “We are extremely proud of our achievement and as a result of the win we saw an increase in visits from design consultants from across the UAE. In terms of the future, the EHL group will be looking to expand its medical facilities to Abu Dhabi and other regions in UAE but for now, the focus will be on our clinics.”
IIR Middle East will work with a panel of judges made up of internationally and regionally respected professionals including Ted Jacobs, president and founder of Ted Jacobs Engineering Group from the USA, Lisa Little Matthews, international accreditation consultant at Accreditation Canada, and Malek El Husseini, business development director, GE Healthcare Middle East.
The panel will examine nominations submitted by healthcare facilities from around the Middle East region to build the shortlist for the five award categories including: Best Hospital Design – Built or Future; Best Physical Environment - Built; Best Sustainable Hospital Project; Best Healing Environment; and Best Hospital Building Regulations.
“The objective of the Hospital Build Awards is to recognise leaders in the healthcare industry who have devoted their efforts to building hospitals that help improve healthcare services and raise the bar in providing world class patient-care,” said Mr El Husseini.
“Hospitals are an integral part of the healthcare services and each hospital has its own distinct character creating an environment that helps the patient recover. When architects design a hospital, they find inspiration from the vision, mission of the project and from the local environment.”
The Hospital Build Awards is a platform to promote the professionals who have worked hard to achieve a hospital environment that enables and promotes a healthy life.
“We are looking for architects, interior designers, engineers, environmental specialists, and regulators from the Middle East region to compete for the coveted titles,” continues Mr. El Husseini. “The judges will rate each submission against the set of published criteria for that particular category and the judging process will be both anonymous and transparent.”
The Hospital Build Middle East Exhibition & Congress will bring investors, commissioners, backers and managers of major healthcare building projects together with planning, design, building, operations, management and refurbishment suppliers.
