Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt denied Monday a split between his Progressive Social Party (PSP) and Iran, saying that the country’s domestic troubles had nothing to do with his party’s relationship to the Islamic republic.
During last month’s budget debate, Jumblatt complained that the Iranian embassy made him wait three days before issuing him a visa.
“Maybe some people thought there was a disagreement or a divergence of opinions after the debate in Parliament, but no, there isn’t any,” Jumblatt said, quoted by the Daily Star newspaper.
“The PSP appreciates the revolution’s efforts to support liberation in Lebanon and both national and Islamic forces,” he added.
Jumblatt made the comments after meeting with Iran’s ambassador, Mohammad Ali Subhani, said the paper - Albawaba.com
