City Deputy Manager for Cultural, Social, and Sports Affairs, Eng. Haitham Jweinat, inaugurated the third and last week of Greater Amman Municipality's (GAM) Camp in its 7th edition, "With Jordan We Grow 2010", which has been launched at the beginning of the current month at Amman National Park on the Airport Road.
During the three weeks, 300 children from Jordan, Palestine, Syria, and Emirates have participated in the Camp.
Many children expressed their gratitude to the Mayor for receiving them and for giving them the chance to participate in the Camp, and to know the City identity and Jordan's culture.
Mayor of Amman, Omar Maani, welcomed the Arab participants in the Camp and invited them to site see Amman and learn about the culture and landmarks of Jordan.
The children also watched one of the World Cup games at the outdoor theatre through a big screen provided by GAM, and following to the Mayor's directions, so that children can catch up on the most important sport events.
The Camp focuses on engaging children in activities with small groups in warm and calm atmosphere, enjoying their time with other children from Jordan and other countries, regardless of their nationalities and cultural backgrounds. The Camp also opens the way to the children to get oriented on other cultures, and gives each child her or his right of care and interaction.
The Camp organized by the Social Service Directorate at GAM, targets children from the ages 9 – 13 years; and its activities lasted for 3 weeks (one camp every week) with 100 children participating each week.
