kempinski expands distribution

Kempinski Hotels’ expansion plans are now bearing fruit with 17 hotels set to open worldwide during 2008. The international luxury hotel group expects to close the year with 73 hotels in its portfolio.

“This rapid expansion of the group makes for exciting times for us in Distribution, Web and Revenue Management” said Rex Demanser, Vice President of Revenue Management & Distribution for Kempinski Hotels, based in Geneva.

Kempinski launched a fully centralised reservations system on a Micros Fidelio platform in 2007, which is fully integrated with its hotel Property Management Systems. This global system now permits Kempinski hotels to profit from rapid Content, Rates and Availability to market. Coupled with the integrated Revenue Management and channel management tools being rolled-out in 2008, this centralised system further enhances Kempinski’s overall worldwide Distribution platform.

“Kempinski is already working with a number of large Third Party Internet providers and will continue to further expand the group’s distribution. Customers are changing their reservation habits and Kempinski is in an ideal position to take advantage of this. I’m looking forward to driving increasing revenues and volume across our global network of hotels,” continued Demanser.

Negotiations are underway with a number of additional Third Party Internet providers, with whom Kempinski would like to work with over the coming years, “of course, the deals have to provide value for both parties, but most of the Third Party Internet companies are being very reasonable in the deals we are negotiating. This obviously makes it easier for us to move forward quickly and provide our Internet partners with integrated links to our platforms.”

Kempinski’s investment in Technology and Centralised systems is a cornerstone of the international luxury hotel group’s continued success and will support the rapid expansion of Kempinski’s hotel portfolio.
