Culinary delights devised by Doxis Bekris to be served in First and Business Class on routes from the Gulf to Germany

Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates and Lufthansa German Airlines announced a collaboration of the culinary variety today, sharing the news that Kempinski’s star chef Doxis Bekris has been chosen to create dishes exclusively for Lufthansa First and Business Class passengers on all outbound flights from the Gulf to Germany. Lufthansa and Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates will cooperate for one year with Kempinski becoming part of Lufthansa’s Star Chef Programme.

Greek born Doxis is on his way to becoming a celebrity chef in the UAE, having worked at some of the world’s most acclaimed restaurants with renowned masters of the trade, he is regarded in high esteem amongst industry peers and gourmands in the region and has lead the evolution of Sezzam at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates into an award winning dining venue.  Gaining a following of fans abroad, Doxis starred in televised cooking shows both in his native Greece and the United Kingdom. This irrefutable talent lead Lufthansa to invite chef Doxis to contribute to the airline’ s new ‘Star Chef’ promotion which will be available from October 28th onwards throughout the whole year, featuring changing menus every two months.

“The Star Chef programme is a wonderful chance for us to showcase the culinary genius and creativity of our very own Executive Chef Doxis, who is an ambassador for both exquisite, innovative cuisine and the high standard of Kempinski personnel,” said Mr. Michael Henssler, General Manager and Regional Director, Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, “As a strategic partner with Kempinski globally, Lufthansa is an important link to and from our Middle Eastern properties and we are proud to be aligned with their First and Business Class services on these routes”.

Rotating every two months, Doxis’s fine dining delicacies will include for the month of November and December in Lufthansa’s First Class: sautéed tiger prawns, lemon grass with Cashew nuts in red chilli sauce, blanched baby pak choy, carrots, beans and corn with fried rice; cornflake crusted chicken breast, mint rice rolled in Savoy cabbage, fruity curry sauce and caramelised pineapple ring. Luscious desserts such as green tea panna cotta with rhubarb and mixed berry compote with chocolate garnish or cinnamon ice-cream with plum compote complete the fine dining experience at 39,000 feet.

This is what our passengers in the Gulf region can look forward to”.

Already firm partners with corporate ties, Kempinski and Lufthansa are exploring ways to further enhance their relationship through initiatives such as the Star Chef menus.
