U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry told Al Arabiya News Channel on Thursday that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had “committed war crimes” and was “not ready for a solution” to the ongoing Syrian crisis.

Speaking in an interview, Kerry said that Assad has become a magnet of terrorists in the region and denied that Washington had any coordination with Assad in fighting terrorism in Syria.

In regards to Iran, the secretary of state said the United States continues to be wary of Iran’s involvement in the conflict and that it can “only judge Iran’s actions, not words.”

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights at least 130,000 people have been killed since March 2011 when the uprisings against Assad began. The year 2013 was the deadliest, with 73,000 fatalities.
