Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research (KUSTAR), the UAE's leading higher education institution specializing in technical studies, today hosted its Career Fair at its Sharjah campus.

Aimed at highlighting potential career options and summer training programs, the Fair attracted 21 leading private and public sector entities eager to connect to KUSTAR's latest generation of technical graduates, including Mubadala, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) Etisalat, du, Yahsat and C4 Advanced Solutions. Also participating was the Etisalat BT Innovation Centre (EBTIC), KUSTAR's Center of Innovation in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the UAE Advanced Network for Research and Education (ANKABUT), which connects academic and research institutions via high-speed network to facilitate research collaboration.

Dr. Arif Sultan Al Hammadi, KUSTAR’s Interim President said: “Our students benefit from a one hundred per cent job placement rate upon graduation. This is testament to the efforts that the university puts in ensuring that our academic programs are designed to cater to the evolving needs of the job market. It is our responsibility to help facilitate awareness of these options for our students and this career fair is an ideal way to connect fresh graduates to potential employers and start a dialogue. Feedback on both sides has been highly encouraging, with both students and the employers gaining much benefit from their participation.
"Through these events we are helping to prepare students for the world of employment, so that they can face their new challenges with knowledge and confidence", he added.

Majed Al Emiri, a fourth year communications engineering student at KUSTAR said: "This Fair has helped me understand the various career opportunities open to me after I graduate. It has allowed me to meet and interact with potential employers in an informal setting, which has given me some good insights into the organizations and made me excited about my future possibilities."

Ahmad Echtibi, a KUSTAR’s alumni, a postgraduate student in Information Security at KUSTAR and  an employee of the TRA, added: "Participating at this Fair has been particularly enjoyable, not only because of the friendly atmosphere but because we have been able to engage one-to-one with some of the most technically-skilled graduates coming into the UAE workplace today. We are looking forward to some of them joining the TRA and developing their careers with us".

KUSTAR was established in February 2007 by a decree issued by the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

KUSTAR’s main campus is located in Abu Dhabi, while it operates with another campus in Sharjah, and presently offers bachelor degrees in Computer, Telecommunication, Electronic, Aerospace, Software and Biomedical Engineering, Master’s and Doctorate degree programs in Computer, Telecommunication and Electronic Engineering, in addition to the Master’s degree in Information Security. In the future, KUSTAR will also offer degrees in disciplines such as Engineering, Logistics and Management, Life Sciences and Homeland Security. KUSTAR is open to men and women from all nationalities with particular emphasis being placed on educating young UAE nationals.

An international Centre for Research & Development is being developed to ensure that research is an integral part of the university.
