Kinnarps Cup Polo Tournament Commences Five-Day Program Today

Kinnarps of Sweden today announced its team player line-up for the Kinnarps Cup 2006 which begins today and finishes with the gripping grand final on 6 April, 2006 at the exclusive Desert Palm Polo Club.

Growing from a four team event last year to a five team tournament in 2006, the highly anticipated Kinnarps Cup 2006 will have teams sponsored by Kinnarps, as title sponsor, Dutco, Lexus, IFA Hotels & Resorts and Royal Jet.

Each team is made up of excellent professional and local players making the tournament the most exciting yet. All five teams will play two matches over the next three days with the finals taking place on the fifth day with two highest scoring teams playing for 1st and 2nd place and remaining three taking part in a round robin for runners up.

Today’s matches will see Kinnarps vs Royal Jet and IFA Hotels & Resorts vs Dutco, while Monday’s play will feature Lexus vs Dutco. Another two matches will be played on Tuesday in the run up to the final on Thursday 6 April.

Local professionals at the Kinnarps Cup 2006 will include Robert Thame, polo manager for Ali Albwardy and member of the Dubai Polo Team. Other professionals include Argentinean Nicola Petracchi, who is also polo manager for Saeed Bin Drai together with Gabriel Inglesis and 6-goalder Justo del Carril.

In addition to the local professional line up is overseas polo player, Johnny Good. The English professional is a regular player in the Alcatel team and has played in the European Championships.

In terms of local players, Kinnarps is privileged to have some of the UAE’s most renowned polo enthusiasts participating including Tariq Albwardy, Rashid and Mohammed Al Habtoor, Satish Seemar, Neil McLean and Saeed Bin Drai.

Complementing the tournament is Jim McEnteggart, affectionately known in the UK as ‘the voice of polo’ who will be retuning to the Kinanrps Cup to commentate for the event. And Motorola will kindly be presenting Motorola RAZR V3i, SLVR L7, and SLVR L6 mobiles to the lucky winners and umpires of the final match.

Invited guests to the tournament final on Thursday 6 April can look forward to an array of exciting activities including gourmet food & beverage, luxury prizes with Lexus, Motorola and Jebel Ali Hotels & Resorts offering prizes for the ‘Pick the Winner’ and ‘Highest Goal Scorer’ competitions.
