KIPCO Sponsors Kuwait’s First Dyslexia Screening and Assessment Conference

KIPCO is to sponsor Kuwait’s first Dyslexia Screening and Assessment Conference as a key part of the third and forth phases of KIPCO’s ongoing major dyslexia awareness and media campaign. The conference will be held at the Salwa Sabah Al Ahmed Ballroom on 17 and 18 of March.
The campaign started in 2007, when KIPCO undertook the organization and sponsorship of an extensive public awareness campaign that used a variety of media including TV and print to illustrate the problems faced by those suffering from dyslexia. The campaign is aimed at reaching educators and parents in order to highlight the implications and distress that many sufferers of dyslexia often encounter.  This media awareness campaign is the first of its kind in Kuwait and in the region.

Commenting on KIPCO’s sponsorship of the Dyslexia Screening and Assessment Conference, Abeer Al Omar, Assistant Vice President of Corporate Communications at KIPCO said:
"We are very happy to be sponsoring such a prestigious event of this kind in Kuwait for the first time. This Conference, along with our extensive and ongoing media awareness campaign, will not only help raise awareness of dyslexia as a growing problem in the region but it also brings internationally recognized experts together from around North America, Europe and the Middle East to create a dialogue around the different solutions and various treatments of dyslexic individuals in our communities.”

In association with the Kuwait Dyslexia Association and Masharee Al Khair, KIPCO has announced that it will be the exclusive sponsor of the conference as it continues its efforts to support the dyslexia awareness campaign.. With a substantial number of children and adults suffering from dyslexia in Kuwait, KIPCO feels it has a requirement to be socially responsible, and is fully committed, to building awareness of this condition and creating understanding in public, private and educational spheres.

"A strategic Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program is a long-standing element of KIPCO’s business strategy” added Ms. Al Omar. “Ultimately, KIPCO believes that it is essential that we as a business are socially aware of the implications and the characteristics of dyslexia which will then in turn help us as a community to understand how to help those individuals in our society who are dyslexic and how to improve their quality of life.”

The Dyslexia Screening and Assessment Conference will be a two-day event that will invite educators from around Kuwait to participate in workshops and lectures given by specialists from British Dyslexia Association, and the Kuwait Dyslexia Association. The Conference will also be an open event for parents and all members of the community in Kuwait who want to find out more about dyslexia, its diagnosis and treatment.
