More than 200 Kurds gathered at UN House in Beirut on Sunday to demand the release of Abdullah Ocalan, the imprisoned leader of the Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, reported the Daily Star.
The Kurdish community's representative in Lebanon, Sheikh Daoud Badki, submitted two memorandums to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.
The first called for freeing Ocalan and halting attacks against PKK members in Europe, while the second urged Annan to send UN forces to areas under the control of the Palestinian Authority to protect Palestinians, said the paper.
The Kurds, many of whom arrived from the south and Syria, were accompanied by supporters of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine – Albawaba.com
