A gunbattle between Kuwaiti security forces and an armed group that took place early Monday morning has left four armed suspects killed and three others wounded in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Area, south of Kuwait city, a security source told KUNA. Three Kuwaiti security men were also wounded.

The director of the Public Relations Department and Moral Guidance at the Interior Ministry Lieutenant Colonel Adel Al-Hashash told KUNA that the forces were chasing "terrorists" from one location to another.

According to press reports, the armed group opened fire at the Kuwaiti security men while being pursued. They took shelter in one of the houses in the residential area, south of Kuwaiti city, and killed a civilian identified as Mohammed Mansour Al-Furaih.

Later, Al-Hashash said the leader of the "terrorist" cell involved in Monday's fierce clashes has surrendered to the authorities. Four "terrorists" were killed and three others were wounded while another three including the leader of the cell Amer Khulaif Al-Enezi have surrendered to security forces.

Monday's clash came one day after Kuwaiti security forces battled armed men in another residential district.
