Kuwait's embassy in Khartoum has received directives from foreign minister Shiekh Sabah al-Ahmed to ease granting visas to Sudanese businessmen and workers, reported Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), quoting the charge d'affaires of the Kuwaiti embassy in Khartoum, Fahad al-Awadhi.
Al-Awadhi told KUNA that there are increasing numbers of work permits granted to Sudanese in the past few weeks, adding that "this is a sign of positive improvement in relations between the two countries."
There are no restrictions on Sudanese workforce, supply and demand is all that there is, Al-Awadhi said.
He expected the Sudanese workers, who used to work in Kuwait prior to the Iraqi invasion in 1990, to gradually return to Kuwait according to the market's demand.
More than 20,000 Sudanese used to work in Kuwait prior to the Iraqi invasion, according to the agency - Albawaba.com
