ALBAWABA - Kuwaiti media reported that numerous former ministers and parliamentarians are facing accusations. These officials are being sued for corruption, slander of the judiciary, and defiance to royal orders, sources say.

Former Minister Mubarak Al-Arou, a Ministry of Social Affairs undersecretary, a Cooperative Societies Union president, and another person were convicted to seven years in jail by the Court of Cassation. They were found guilty of benefitting from a corporate deal without legal process. According to Kuwaiti media, and "Sky News Arabia."

The Permanent Investigation Committee for the Trial of Ministers indicted four defendants, including the former minister, with illegally profiting from a domestic firm contract. The court punished them severely for profiting and breaking the law.

Two former ministers were sent to the Ministers Court, although accounts differed. Informed sources told "Al-Rai" that a former Defense Minister has been sent to court for a July 9 trial. Legal sources first said a previous Interior Minister's referral was wrong since the matter was still under investigation.

However, "Al-Rai" stated that the Permanent Investigation Committee for the Trial of Ministers sent the minister to court after hearing his evidence. He was freed on 2000 dinar bond, barred from traveling, and has a July 2 court date.

The Criminal Court condemned former MP Abdullah Fahad to six months of hard labor for defaming the judiciary on television. The court fined the program's host and director 150 dinars each. Local media reported this case, including "Al-Qabas" newspaper.

The Kuwaiti Criminal Court also arrested former MP Hamad Al-Alyan on state security allegations. Al-Alyan objected to Emir-made choices and appointments, sources said "Sky News Arabia". "Al-Qabas" reported that Al-Alyan denied intruding on the Emir's authority and criticizing his judgments in court before being sent to the central jail awaiting the case.
