About 74 percent of more than 15,000 people surveyed in Kuwait consider Osama bin Laden, the al-Qaeda terrorist network leader, a hero, a newspaper reported Tuesday.
Al-Rai Al-Aam said it conducted a survey of 15,029 Kuwaitis and expatriates living in the country, of whom 8,695 said Osama bin Laden was a hero while 2,273 people, or 19.43 percent, thought he was a criminal. Another 727 people, or 6.21 percent, said they were not concerned.
Individuals who were polled sent their answers through the SMS (short messaging service) mobile phone system, the daily expressed, adding that 3,334 people sent inaccurate answers. Therefore, the results were calculated on the basis of the 11,695 people who answered correctly, it said.
Respondents were simply asked whether they considered bin Laden a "hero" or a "criminal." (Albawaba.com)
