Land Rover MENA, in partnership with its UAE importer Al Tayer Motors, is proud to announce its title sponsorship of the first Emirati female and UAE National, Elham Al-Qasimi, as she attempts an unassisted and unsupported expedition to the Geographic North Pole this April 2010.
During her three-week journey, Elham, who departed from the UAE on 11th April, will ski cross-country to the North Pole starting at 89 degrees latitude. As a result, she will be the first Arab woman to set foot on the North Pole and the first UAE national to undertake an unassisted unsupported expedition to the North Pole.

As part of the sponsorship, Land Rover MENA and Al Tayer Motors have given Elham a 2010 Range Rover Sport to assist her during her gruelling training regime which included pulling the vehicle unaided along a stretch of Jumeirah Beach in Dubai to replicate the motion of pulling a dogsled during her unaided trek across the North Pole. Elham also had the opportunity to continue her training on a different terrain when Land Rover UK provided her with a 2010 LR4 model which she successfully pulled under the supervision of a team of strength and endurance experts.
