UN Secretary General Special Envoy Terji Roed-Larsen said on Thursday his talks with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad were “constructive and very encouraging.”
In a written statement to journalists Thursday afternoon, Larson said "we have been involved in a genuine cooperation partnership with each of Syria and Lebanon taking into consideration their common interest and historical links as well al-Taeif accord, cooperation and fraternity agreement and coordination among them."
Larsen depicted his talks with Foreign Minister Farouq al-Shara and Deputy Foreign Minister Walid al-Mouallem as constructive and cordial. “The UN Secretary General is carrying on his work seriously as to implement all the UN Security Council relevant resolutions to the Arab-Israeli conflict,” the statement said.
