LaSilkee Virtual Connection, an emerging provider of advanced voice and data communication services in Jordan, and the ZTE Corporation, China’s largest listed telecommunications infrastructure manufacturer, announced this week the formation of an innovative strategic partnership between the two companies in a joint press conference.

The agreement paves way for LaSilkee to deliver a range of advanced services to the Jordanian market, based on ZTE’s Softswitch-based Next Generation Network (NGN). NGN networks, which are expected to replace traditional circuit-switched networks world-wide over the coming years,  allow operators to access mobile, broadband and multimedia networks on a single,  integrated IP-based platform that supports voice, data, and video services without the need for complex and expensive system integration and implementation. As a result, LaSilkee anticipates being able to quickly launch a range of advanced services and to be able to offer them at price levels affordable to the mass market.

The ZTE Corporation, provides its global customers with diversified integrated telecom equipment and services, covering three product series; wireless, network and mobile telephony and has recorded contract sales of more than $4 billion in 2004.

Mr. Saed Taweel, CEO of LaSilkee, stated "Our strategic partnership with ZTE Corporation comes as fulfilment of LaSilkee’s commitment to introduce cutting-edge telecom solutions to Jordan and to take this market in a single step from being ten years behind to ten years ahead of the rest of the world... Finding the right technology partner has been a strategic priority for us from day one, and we believe that the ZTE Corporation has the R+D, manufacturing efficiency and technology credentials as well as the proven track record we’ve been looking for."

Mr. Taweel added, "We believe that our partnership with ZTE Corporation will enable us not only to realise our vision for the Jordanian market, but also to support LaSilkee’s plans to upgrade and enhance its services in the future and to expand our businesses regionally."

"We are pleased and proud of the rapid advances we have witnessed in Jordan's telecommunications infrastructure, and we trust having partnerships with regional telecom providers such as LaSilkee, will contribute to this development. ZTE’s NGN platform will help LaSilkee provide more enhanced and value-added services that their customers will demand," said Ms. Yan Yan, ZTE Vice-President.

The ZTE Corporation will be providing intensive training course for LaSilkee employees at its headquarters in China. The course will familiarise LaSilkee's team with implementation, deployment, upgrades, maintenance, support and solution management using ZTE’s infrastructure.
