During a press conference held at the Four Seasons Amman, on Sunday May 4, Coca Cola, the world's largest soft drink manufacturer, announced the launch of Coca Cola Zero, the latest edition to the Coca Cola family. Coca Cola Zero is an innovative new product that maintains the legendary Coca Cola flavour, but is a completely sugar free beverage.
Coca Cola Zero completes the Coca-Cola ‘trilogy’ of original Coca-Cola, an iconic brand loved by people across the globe and Coca-Cola light, with its unique, lighter taste that has a loyal customer base, skewed towards women. Coca-Cola plan to direct marketing toward young men and women, while targeting chiefly men between 20 and 29 years old.
Amer Ahmad, Public Affairs & Communication Manager in the Middle East, expanded on the decision to launch a new product: "The launch of Coca-Cola Zero comes as a result of a sustained effort over several years, during which our team was able to formulate a recipe that retains the same taste of original Coca-Cola, but in a sugar free form. This is the unique aspect of Coca-Cola Zero. Our studies and research have shown that there are so many people who crave the original Coca-Cola taste, but don't want the sugar. Zero is the answer to their wishes.”
Ahmad continued: “Coca-Cola Zero's fantastic flavour and likeness to Coca-Cola can be attributed to the many advancements made in only the last 10 years in food technology, including flavour enhancers and flavour delivery systems are now available.”
The name Zero highlights that the new drink is completely sugar free. As a result, it also has very few calories – under 0.3 calories per 100 ml – so a 300 ml can has less than one calorie.
It has already been launched in the United States, Great Britain, Australia, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Turkey, KSA, Egypt, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain, with great success.
