Leaders of Abu Dhabi’s major institutions of culture and higher education gathered at the offices of TDIC to meet with partners of the museums of Saadiyat Island Cultural District, for the first of a series of workshops designed to ensure the success of the Cultural District’s educational and training mission, and the long-term cultural development programme of Abu Dhabi.

Sixteen major Emirati and international institutions brainstormed during the day-long workshop, initiated and led by the Cultural Department of TDIC, in which they offered their thoughts on how to contribute toward two overarching goals: preparing the audience to be ready for the Cultural District museums, and preparing a new generation of Emiratis to enter the professional careers that the museums generate

“The new concept of museums in Abu Dhabi, at Saadiyat Island Cultural District will showcase and celebrate human creativity as seen from a uniquely regional perspective. They will serve as a convergence point for the world’s cultures while being based firmly in the Emirate’s own heritage and establish Abu Dhabi as a destination of international standing, enriching Abu Dhabi’s people by creating educational opportunities for generations to come, stated H.E Mubarak Al Muhairi, Managing Director of TDIC. “TDIC’s Cultural Department has been leading up toward the opening of these museums by presenting a variety of high-profile public programmes and educational projects. Today, we have united all of the Emirate’s main institutions in supporting these same goals.”
