Leading local and international entities have come out in support of the 13th edition of Dubai Summer Surprises that is set to run for 52 days this year from June 17 to August 7. Corporate giants and organisations such as Al Futtaim Group, BurJuman, Coca Cola, Dubai Shopping Malls Group, Dubai Duty Free, Dubai World Trade Centre, Emaar Malls Group, Emirates airline, MAF Properties, MasterCard, and Wafi are the key sponsors of the region's biggest summer event in 2010.
His Excellency Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economic Development said, "Festivals and innovative tourism initiatives have proved to be a successful tool to stimulate the tourism and hospitality sectors, and a key driving force for domestic economies. Dubai, following the directives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashed Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai, was one of the first cities in the region to acknowledge the importance of the festival industry in supporting the Gross Domestic Product since the mid 1990s."
"As we approach the launch of the 13th edition of Dubai Summer Surprises, we are now realizing our efforts over the previous years in building this successful industry, thus placing Dubai as the pioneer of such innovative initiatives in the region."
HE hailed the sponsors of DSS 2010, stating that supporting an event of this magnitude by leading local and international entities is a clear indication of the stable and robust economy of Dubai, and a clear vote of confidence from the private sector towards Dubai Government initiatives.
Laila Suhail, Chief Executive Officer of the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment said, "Dubai will be an oasis of summer fun and excitement for 52 consecutive days during DSS 2010, the leading and the most recognized summer event in the region. We have spared no efforts in designing elements of this event to cater to the aspirations of our visitors. Running successfully for 13 consecutive years, DSS has capitalized on the state-of-the-art infrastructure that gives Dubai a cutting edge in terms of organizing and hosting such mega events."
"What we want to highlight through DSS are the key elements of family entertainment, shopping experience, purchase linked winning opportunities and the lifestyle of Dubai through its various other attractions. Also, as part of our new mandate for DEPE, we are working very closely with the retail sector to sustain its growth and enhance its role as a key driver for Dubai's economy, whilst positioning Dubai as the leading retail hub in the region."
Suhail also expressed DEPE's appreciation towards the sponsors of DSS 2010, stressing on the fact that the event wouldn't have reached its present posture as one of the must successful events in the region if it weren't for the private sector's support. "The feedback from our esteemed sponsors is quite essential for us to continue our growth and development. In fact, DSS sponsors have extended their support beyond their sponsorship to other aspects such as the marketing and logistical operations of the event itself. It's a perfect partnership where every one wins," she concluded.
