Spurred by the growing interest in genuine spare parts and accessories in the region, leading manufacturer ACDelco has announced an increased presence at Automechanika Middle East 2010.

The event, which is the leading trade platform for the automotive aftermarket in the Middle East, will be held at the Dubai International Convention and Ex-hibition Centre from May 25th to 27th.

“The Middle East consumer is increasingly discerning about having high qual-ity and genuine spare parts,” said Mr Ahmed Pauwels, Chief Executive Officer, Epoc Messe Frankfurt. “As the leading networking event for the spare parts and accessories market in the region, we are looking at driving this demand by working closely with our exhibitors to deliver a high quality event.”

Glenn Heller, Manager, Sales and Marketing GM Parts/ACDelco, Africa and the Middle East, said: “ACDelco is committed to providing quality spare parts for all cars and models, and events like Automechanika provide us with the platform to increase awareness of the importance of using genuine spare parts. ACDelco is also taking the lead in educating the region’s youth about the importance of regular vehicle maintenance, with such initiatives as our recently opened Auto Repair Shop in Kidzania.”

Spare parts and accessories form the largest sector in Dubai’s automobile imports and re-export trade, comprising 54% of the total trade according to industry figures from Dubai World, Department of Statistics. Leading source countries for UAE imports are Germany, Japan, South Korea, USA and China with the top re-export markets being Iran, Iraq, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Jor-dan.

According to Mr Gazi Bilikozen, Senior Show Manager, Automechanika Mid-dle East: “These statistics show the importance and extent of the automotive parts and accessories industry in the region. Having big names such as AC-Delco as exhibitors reconfirms our position as the leading event for the auto-motive aftermarket.”

The continued interest in this sector was reflected at Automechanika Middle East 2009 where nearly 60% of the 15,275 visitors were interested in automo-tive parts and equipment. Their interests ranged from wanting to source sup-ply, enquiring about prospective new markets and making new contacts to exploring new products and trends in the sector.

Several leading exhibitors have announced their first time participation at Au-tomechanika Middle East 2010 including Schaeffler Group, Henkel, Europart, Delphi, Saca international, Blitz Rotary, BASF, Safari Automotive, Viezu, Key-stone, CMS Wheels, Borla Exhaust and Service Best.
