At least three children were killed on Wednesday when fire broke out in a blanket store at the Abu Rish children's hospital in central Cairo, according to police officials.

They said seven other children were injured, however hospital sources placed the number at around 30.

Medical sources said the hospital’s 160 patients, including 70 newborns, had been evacuated to other hospitals, AFP said.

Firefighters said the fire has been brought under control and an inquiry opened into the cause. (Albawaba.com)
