The army arrested a group of Syrians Tuesday operating a small drone in east Lebanon, a security source told The Daily Star.
The source said the Army raided a location in the central Bekaa village of Al-Sawiri, near the border town of Majdal Anjar, from where the six men were operating.
One of the men was standing on guard as another controlled the drone from inside the room, he added.
Media reports said the group was using the drone to spy on areas in the eastern Lebanese mountain range.
The drone, which has yet to be located by security forces, was equipped with a camera that records high definition footage.
The security source said its maximum range is not more than two kilometers.
Investigations are ongoing to reveal the group’s affiliation and whether it was spying on Hezbollah, which has been engaged in a full-fledged battle against Islamist militants along the Syria-Lebanon border.
