Lebanese officials offer condolences to Saudi ambassador over King Abdullah's death

Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon received condolences Saturday from hundreds of people at a downtown Beirut mosque after the death of Saudi King Abdullah.

Army Commander Gen. Jean Kahwagi, Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt and U.S. Ambassador David Hale were among those who paid their respects.

Saudi Ambassador Ali Awad Asiri received the condolences inside the main hall of the Mohmmad al-Amin Mosque.

King Abdullah, 90, was announced dead early Friday, and was succeeded by his brother, Salman.
