President Emile Lahoud affirmed Tuesday the importance of relations with Africa, calling on Lebanese expatriates to keep in contact with the homeland to safeguard their roots, reported the Daily Star newspaper on Wednesday.
Lahoud told a delegation representing the Lebanese-Nigerian Friendship Association that the state “looks forward to solid relations between Lebanon and Africa built on mutual respect of the laws prevailing in the host countries.”
He urged Lebanese expatriates to help develop the economy of Africa and Nigeria, in particular, where there is a significant Lebanese community.
The Nigerian delegation was headed by former Nigerian Minister, Eddy Beaty, said the paper – Albawaba.com
