Lebanese President Emile Lahoud begins Monday a two-day state visit to Paris for bilateral and regional talks with his counterpart Jacques Chirac, reported the official Kuwait news agency (KUNA).
Arab diplomats said that "despite differences on key security issues in Lebanon such as France's wish that Lebanon deploy its troops on the Lebanese-Israeli border, the two countries remained determined not to allow such differences have any negative impact on bilateral relations."
Lahoud also strongly criticized France's call for the reduction of UN forces in south Lebanon.
The diplomat told KUNA that Lahoud's visit comes within "France's efforts to resolve personal relations." - Albawaba.com
