Lebanese President, Emile Lahoud discussed in Beirut Tuesday with his Foreign Minister the issue of the forecasted six months extension for UN forces in South Lebanon by the Security Council. The necessity of adherence to the role played by these forces and their extension in wake of the Israeli aggressions was stressed, according to SANA.

In the meantime, Lebanese Army Commander, Lt. Gen. Michael Sulaiman emphasized the need to enhance coordination with Syria against different Israeli aggressive plans.

Sulaiman, in a statement to the military marking the August 1st Lebanese Army Day, said that our region is witnessing a critical period due to the Israeli aggressions on the Palestinians and the repeatedly perpetrated massacres in the absence of all international, moral or judicial deterrence measures.
