The Lebanese army said Tuesday that temporary and permanent exemptions from military service would be granted to Lebanese abroad if they met certain criteria, reported the Daily Star newspaper.

In a statement, the Lebanese Directorate of Orientation and Guidance said that citizens living abroad, who hold official residence permits in their place of abode, would benefit from a one-year renewable postponement of military service upon submitting the required documents.
