Lebanese soldiers have arrested a fugitive terrorist involved in carrying out a number of bomb attacks in the country, Press TV reports.

The Lebanese army arrested Mohammed Qassem along with several other members of a terrorist group in a special operation in the village of Arsal in northeastern Lebanon, near the border with Syria, on Wednesday.

The army also confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operation.

Arsal is known to be a safe haven for terrorists who enter Lebanon to carry out deadly attacks.

Lebanon has been hit by several deadly bomb attacks over the past few months.

At least 25 people, including Iran’s cultural attaché to Beirut Hojjatoleslam Ebrahim Ansari, were killed and more than 150 others injured in November 2013 after two explosions struck near the Iranian Embassy in southern Beirut.

Abdullah Azzam Brigades claimed responsibility for the twin bomb attacks.
