Lebanon: Senior Hizbullah leader survives assassination attempt

Sheikh Mohammad Yazbek, a senior member of Hizbullah's leadership who doubles as religious representative in Lebanon of Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Friday survived an assassination attempt. According to press reports, an explosion took place near his home in Hizbullah's stronghold of Baalbek.

 

Reuters added the blast happened seconds after Yazbek left his car. The vehicle was destroyed but that he escaped unhurt.

 

Hizbullah has blamed Israel for being behind the assassination attempt. Israel has denied.
