Press Release
Statistics have it that university graduates constitute the highest percentage of unemployed youth in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries. The educational marketplace is skewed toward university graduates, rather than in-demand vocational technicians. In a fast-changing technological world, teaching without reference to what businesses need, obsolete knowledge and out-of-date curricula, graduates will fail to meet the basic needs of employers. Hence Al Asalah is meeting an escalating demand on a vocational cadre in air conditioning systems in Jordan and the region.
This program is divided into two phases: The first consists of the EFE/JCEF's Workplace Success Program. This is an intensive, interactive 60-hour training course. Unlike the widespread, generic soft-skills programs, Workplace Success Program has been translated to Arabic and customized for the Jordanian vocational workplace. Students receive dynamic, practical, hands-on training in communications, customer service, leadership, successful business behavior, and teamwork skills. They are also guided in overriding principles, such as work ethic and self-confidence. The second phase consists of the, vocational "hard skills" training. This is provided by LGE AC Academy (Al-Asalah Pioneers Technology Academy- APTA) in Amman, which was founded in March 2007 by entrepreneur Mr. Essam Samarah. With this unique two-phase program, students learn not only cutting-edge technical skills but also a mandate to achieve professional excellence -thereby raising their own, and society's perceptions of vocational professions.

Mr. Essam Samara stated that LGE and Al Asalah share a common commitment to play an active role in the community. “We stand here today; graduating the third batch of students of our program which will provide a brighter future for the youth. The program armed the graduates with the skills needed to start their future and be active members in the society”.
From his end, the General Manager of LGE Branch in Jordan, Mr. Kevin Cha said, “Our program focuses its efforts on giving equal opportunities to various communities in Jordan. It constitutes an important element of the community outreach initiative, targeting poverty pockets, thus enabling our graduates to aid their families after graduation and during their job placements."
Ms. Taima Khoury added, “We must compliment the organizations that participate in the training and upgrading of skilled Jordanian citizens for the purpose of minimizing as much as possible the unemployment rate in the kingdom and wish to thank, and congratulate the Jordan Career Education Foundation for their utmost efforts in developing the skills of the Jordanian Students.
It is important to note that the LGE Al Asalah Pioneers Academy was launched in December 2006. In recognition of the fact that unemployment rates tend to be highest amongst those individuals who lack the academic educational background or technical skills LGE is giving its support to the academy by providing training curriculums for engineers and technicians in the fields of temperature control. The academy is offering technical training in fields relevant to the operating of central air conditioning systems, their maintenance, their assembling, and the raising of their productivity
