A United States-led war against Baghdad would have very dangerous repercussions throughout the Middle East region, Libyan Foreign Minister Abdel Rahmane Chagham said Friday.
"If there is an American attack against Iraq, the region will encounter many difficulties, very dangerous situations, and nobody can predict the full repercussions," Chagham said following a meeting with his Greek counterpart Georges Papandreou, cited by AFP.
In addition, the visiting Libyan minister emphasized the role of the European Union in resolving the crisis, and in particular that of Greece, which takes over the rotating EU-presidency in January.
Papandreou, for his part, said he hoped for "the success of the (UN weapons) inspectors currently in Iraq" and stressed that Greece remained in favor of a diplomatic solution to the conflict. (Albawaba.com)
