A charity headed by the son of Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi plans to send an airplane with humanitarian aid for Palestinians injured in the past week of violent clashes with Israeli forces, a charity official said Thursday.
A flight organized by the Kadhafi Charitable Foundation "will travel directly from Tripoli to Gaza between today (Thursday) and tomorrow," carrying a "team of doctors, as well as medicines and medical equipment," the official told AFP.
At the same time, he said Libya would open its hospitals to receive Palestinian wounded and the foundation would defray the costs of those injured that need to be taken in by European hospitals.
The foundation, headed by Kadhafi's son, Seif al-Islam, played a key role in the liberation last summer of hostages taken by an Islamic guerrilla group in the Philippines.
